Testing
A standard mold test tells you mold spores are present, which is true in virtually every home. A mycotoxin test detects the toxic compounds certain mold species actually produce, the ones linked to symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, and chronic inflammation. Vyro Environmental Health & Wellness tests both sides: the home, with air, dust, and moisture testing by a Florida licensed mold assessor, and the body, with a clinical mycotoxin urine panel reviewed by a licensed physician.
No. Vyro Environmental Health & Wellness offers the Mycotoxin Urine Panel, the VyroTox Panel, and the ERMI Mold Test without a doctor's order: the kit ships to you, you collect the sample at home, and send it to our accredited lab in the prepaid mailer. The Indoor Air Quality Assessment is an on-site visit by a Florida licensed mold assessor, also with no referral needed. Every Mycotoxin Urine Panel and VyroTox Panel includes a one-on-one telehealth consultation with a licensed physician who reviews your results with you.
If you're experiencing unexplained symptoms like fatigue, headaches, or brain fog, start with the Mycotoxin Urine Panel, it tells you whether your body is carrying a toxic mold burden. If you suspect your home or workplace is the source, add the Indoor Air Quality Assessment. Together, they connect what's in your environment to what's in your body. Not sure? ERMI stands for Environmental Relative Moldiness Index, a scale developed by the EPA. A five-minute dust swab from surfaces that are not cleaned often is analyzed by DNA (mold-specific quantitative PCR) for 36 mold species: 26 water-damage species and 10 common indoor species. The result is a single score that shows what has been growing in the home over time, not just what is airborne on the day of the test. Vyro's ERMI Mold Test is $400 with lab analysis included and results in 10 to 14 days.
A Florida licensed mold assessor spends about two hours in the home. The visit includes a walk-through of conditions and history, a thermal imaging sweep of every room, moisture readings with calibrated meters plotted on a moisture map, and spore trap air samples at up to four indoor locations compared against an outdoor control. Cassettes ship overnight to an accredited laboratory, and you receive an Environmental Assessment Report with findings and photos by area, the moisture map, the sampling diagram, the lab results interpreted against the outdoor control, and a professional opinion with clear next steps.
Keep windows and exterior doors closed for at least 24 hours before the visit and run the air conditioning as you normally would. Do not deep clean, run air purifiers, or paint right before the appointment, since all three mask what is normally in the air. Make a note of where you smell mustiness or see staining, and tell the assessor about any past leaks, floods, or repairs. Pets and family can stay home.
Yes. Vyro Environmental Health & Wellness also offers Bacterial Testing after water damage ($400), Water Quality Testing ($475), Radon Testing ($250), Lead-Based Paint Testing ($395), Asbestos Testing ($545), and Smoke and Soot Residue Testing ($495), plus the VyroTox Panel ($1,199), a single urine sample reporting chemical toxicants, mycotoxins, and toxic metals together. Most of these can be collected on the same visit as the Indoor Air Quality Assessment.
Mold assessment in Florida
Florida does not require every homeowner to test, but it does regulate who may do it: anyone performing a mold assessment for hire on an area larger than 10 square feet must hold a Florida mold assessor license under Chapter 468. In practice, buyers, tenants, insurers, and attorneys routinely ask for a written assessment from a licensed assessor because an unlicensed report or a hardware-store kit carries no weight. Vyro's assessments are performed under Florida mold assessor license MRSA2848.
Yes. Every on-site assessment is performed by a Florida licensed mold assessor (license MRSA2848) with IICRC certification and NORMI and NIAQI training. Health panels are reviewed by a licensed physician. Vyro Environmental Health & Wellness is also a state-approved continuing education provider for licensed community association managers and insurance agents on indoor air quality.
All of Florida. Vyro Environmental Health & Wellness is based in Altamonte Springs, and most on-site assessments are in Central Florida: Orange, Seminole, Lake, Osceola, Volusia, Brevard, and Polk counties, including Orlando, Winter Park, Sanford, Lake Mary, Clermont, Kissimmee, Daytona Beach, and Melbourne. At-home kits (ERMI, Mycotoxin Urine Panel, VyroTox) ship anywhere in the state.
No. Vyro Environmental Health & Wellness is an assessment and testing company and does not perform remediation on the homes it assesses, so our findings are never tied to a repair bill. If the assessment calls for remediation, we write a Remediation Protocol ($250) that any licensed contractor can bid from, and when the work is done we verify it independently with a post-remediation clearance.
A PRV clearance is the independent test that confirms remediation actually worked before the containment comes down and the drywall goes back up. A licensed assessor inspects the work area and pulls air samples inside each containment and an outdoor control. Vyro's PRV clearance is $350 for up to four air samples (three inside plus one control), with additional containment chambers at $50 each, and you receive a Certificate of Clearance when the area passes.
Results
Air, water, and bacterial samples return from the lab in 3 to 5 business days. ERMI and the Mycotoxin Urine Panel take 10 to 14 days, the VyroTox Panel 5 to 10 business days after the lab receives your sample, and radon results are ready the day the monitor is picked up. Every report is written in plain English: what was detected, at what levels, and what those levels mean.
For the home, an Environmental Assessment Report with findings and photos by area, the moisture map, the sampling diagram, lab results interpreted against the outdoor control, and a professional opinion with next steps. For the body, the lab report plus a one-on-one telehealth consult with a licensed physician. When you test both, a correlation report ties what was found in the property to what was found in you. Everything lands in your client portal.
Every Mycotoxin Urine Panel, VyroTox Panel, Mold Package, and Comprehensive Testing Panel includes a one-on-one telehealth consultation with a licensed physician who reads your results against your symptoms and, if you tested the home, against the environmental findings. Environmental-only services (Indoor Air Quality Assessment, ERMI, Environmental Panel) are reviewed and explained by the licensed assessor and do not include a physician consult.
You will know exactly where the problem is and what to do about it. For the home, the report identifies the source and the affected areas, and a Remediation Protocol gives any contractor a clear scope. For the body, the physician explains what the markers mean and the next clinical steps. After remediation, a PRV clearance and, if you choose, a repeat urine panel confirm that both the home and your exposure have come down.

The health panels (Mycotoxin Urine Panel, VyroTox Panel, and the clinical portion of the Comprehensive Testing Panel) are physician-reviewed laboratory tests and are typically eligible for HSA and FSA funds. Eligibility rules vary by plan, so check with your plan administrator; we provide an itemized receipt on request.
Sometimes. Many Florida policies include a limited mold benefit, and testing tied to a covered water loss is often reimbursable, but every policy is different and we cannot promise coverage. What we can do is write the report the way adjusters and attorneys need it: dated, photographed, moisture-mapped, with chain-of-custody lab results. Ask us before the visit if the assessment is for a claim.
Renters and home buyers
Yes. You do not need your landlord's permission to test the air you breathe, and an independent report from a Florida licensed mold assessor turns a complaint into documented evidence. Our guides on turning a mold complaint into evidence and what to do when a property manager says it's just mildew walk through the process step by step.
A standard home inspection does not include mold or air sampling, and fresh paint covers a lot. An Indoor Air Quality Assessment or ERMI dust test during your inspection period is inexpensive compared to a remediation bill after closing, and the report gives you leverage to negotiate or walk away. Prevention
Through preventative maintenance. Your environment is always changing, so we recommend annual indoor air quality assessments to make sure your home stays stabilized, along with duct cleanings and consistent humidity and temperature control.
Below 60 percent at all times, and ideally between 30 and 50 percent, which is the EPA's recommendation. In Florida that usually means running the air conditioning even when the house feels cool, using a dehumidifier in closed rooms and garages, and fixing any leak within 24 to 48 hours, which is how quickly mold can establish on wet drywall.
